Abstract
Mechanicalpropertiesofthematerialsusedfornuclearpowerplants,transportationsandindustrialmachineryunderhighstrainrateloadingconditionssuchasseismicloadingarerequiredtoprovideappropriatesafetyassessmenttothesemechanicalstructures.ThesplitHopkinsonpressurebar(SHPB)techniquewithaspecialexperimentalapparatuscanbeusedtoobtainthematerialbehaviorunderhighstrainrateloadingconditions.Inthispaper,dynamicdeformationbehaviorsofthealuminumalloys(Al2024-T4,Al6061-T6andAl7075-T6)underbothhighstrainratecompressiveandtensileloadingandPMMAunderhighstrainratecompressiveloadingaredeterminedusingtheSHPBtechnique.
