Abstract :
Thisstudywasperformedinordertoclarifycrackopeningdisplacement(COD)ofthrough-wallcracksinaplatesubjectedtobendingload.TheformerCODevaluationmethodsweremainlydevelopedcorrespondingtotensileload,buttherehasbeennothingthathasbeendevelopedcorrespondingtobendingload.Therefore,theauthorsevaluatedCODsofthethrough-wallcracksinplateswhichweresubjectedtoabendingloadusingfiniteelementmethod(FEM)analyses,andproposedasimplifiedCODevaluationmethodaccountingforbothtensileandbendingloads.Theproposedmethodisusefulforleakageevaluationatacrackopeningofanelbowcrownorinthevicinityofthecoolantsurfaceofavesselinwhichthebendingstressisrelativelylarge.
