Abstract
Concernsaboutthelocalhydrogenbehaviorinanuclearpowerplant(NPP)containmentduringsevereaccidentshaveincreasedwiththe10CFR50.34(f)regulationafterTMIaccident.Consequently,investigationsonthelocalhydrogenbehaviorsundersevereaccidentconditionswererequired.AnanalyticalmodelnamedHYCA3DwasdevelopedatSeoulNationalUniversity(SNU)topredictthethermodynamicsandthethreedimensionalbehaviorofahydrogen/steammixture,withinasubdividedcontainmentvolumefollowinghydrogengenerationduringasevereaccidentinNPPs.Inthisstudy,theHYCA3Dcodewasimprovedwithasteamcondensationandspraymodel,andverifiedwithhydrogenmixingexperimentsexecutedinaSNUrectangularmixingfacility.Heliumwasusedtosimulatehydrogeninboththecalculationsandtheexperiments.Thecalculationresultsshowgoodagreementwiththeexperimentaldata.
