Abstract :
ThetemperaturedependenceofoxidationbehaviorforthegraphiteIG-11,usedintheHTR-10,wasinvestigatedbythermogravimetricanalysisinthetemperaturerangeof400–1200°C.Theoxidantwasdryair(watercontent<2ppm)withaflowrateof20ml/min.Theoxidationtimewas4h.Theoxidationresultsexhibitedthreeregimes:inthe400–600°Crange,theactivationenergywas158.56kJ/molandoxidationwascontrolledbychemicalreaction;inthe600–800°Crange,theactivationenergywas72.01kJ/molandoxidationkineticswerecontrolledbyin-porediffusion;whenthetemperaturewasover800°C,theactivationenergywasverylowandoxidationwascontrolledbytheboundarylayer.DuetoCOproduction,theoxidationrateincreasedathightemperatures.Theeffectofburn-offonactivationenergywasalsoinvestigated.Inthe600–800°Crange,theactivationenergydecreasedwithburn-off.Resultsoflowtemperaturetestswereverydispersiblebecausetheoxidationbehavioratlowtemperaturesissensitivetoinhomogeneousdistributionofanyimpurity,andsomeimpuritiescancatalysegraphiteoxidation.
