Abstract :
Delaminationoftheinner(primary)containmentdomeoftheKaigaAtomicPowerProject,Unit-1(Kaiga-1)occurredduringconstruction.Subsequenttotheinvestigationofthedelaminationphenomenon,rehabilitationofthecontainmentdomewasinitiated.Amethodologyforsafetyevaluationofrehabilitationofthecontainmentdomewassuitablydevisedbasedontheoutcomeoftheinvestigationwork.Emphasiswaslaid,duringsafetyevaluation,onthesafetyoftheexistingringbeam,developmentofreviewbasisforthere-engineereddome,designreviewandqualityassuranceindesign,qualityassuranceofmaterialsused,examinationofconstructibilityusingthenewdesign,andsafetyreviewofconstructionactivitiesofthere-engineereddome.Theinnercontainmentstructurewasacceptedafterthesuccessfulpre-commissioningproof(structuralintegrity)andleakageratetests.
