Abstract :
Itisimportanttoemphasizethatthecurrenttrendtolongerfuelcycles(18–24months)hascomplicatedthedilemmaoffindingoptimumchemicalconditionfortheprimarycoolantbecauseofsomeproblemssuchasincreaseofradioactivecorrosionproducts,possibilityofaxialoffsetanomalyandsoon.Radioactivecorrosionproductswhicharegeneratedbytheneutronactivationofgeneralcorrosionproductsatanuclearpowerplantarethemajorsourceofoccupationalradiationexposure.Generally,radioactivecorrosionproductsexitinsolubleandinsolubleforms,andareremovedbyionexchangersandpurificationfilters.Mostoftheinsolubleradioactivecorrosionproductshavethecharacteristicofshowingstrongferrimagnetism.Alongwiththenewdevelopmentandproductionofpermanentmagnets(rareearthmagnets)whichgeneratemuchstrongermagneticfieldsthanconventionalpermanentmagnets,anewtypeofmagneticfilterissuggestedthatcanefficientlyseparatecorrosionproductsusingrotationofpermanentmagnets.Thisnewmagneticfilterrevealsgoodperformanceresultsinfilteringmagnetite,cobaltferriteandnickelferritefromaqueouscoolantsimulation.
