Abstract :
Thebubbleinteractionmechanismshavebeenanalyticallymodeledinthefirstpaperofthisseriestoprovidemechanisticconstitutiverelationsforthetwo-groupinterfacialareatransportequation(IATE),whichwasproposedtodynamicallysolvetheinterfacialareaconcentrationinthetwo-fluidmodel.Thispaperpresentstheevaluationapproachandresultsofthetwo-groupIATEbasedonavailableexperimentaldataobtainedinconfinedupwardflow,namely,11datasetsinornearbubblyflowand13setsincap-turbulentandchurn-turbulentflows.Thetwo-groupIATEisevaluatedinsteady-state,one-dimensional(1D)form.Toaccountfortheinter-groupbubbletransport,thevoidfractiontransportequationforGroup-2bubblesisalsousedtopredictthevoidfractionforGroup-2bubbles.Agreementbetweenthedataandthemodelpredictionsisreasonablygoodandtheaveragerelativedifferenceforthetotalinterfacialareaconcentrationbetweenthe24datasetsandpredictionsiswithin7%.Themodelevaluationdemonstratesthecapabilityofthetwo-groupIATEfocusedonthecurrentconfinedflowtopredicttheinterfacialareaconcentrationoverawiderangeofflowregimes.
