Abstract
MOXfuelrodbehaviorduetoPCMIduringpowertransientswasevaluatedusingafiniteelementcode,ABAQUS.Cladelongationiscalculatedthroughacoupledtemperature–displacementanalysiswhereahalf-pelletisaxisymmetricallymodeled.ParametricstudyforthePCMImodelispreliminaryperformedtoidentifythedominantfactorsandexaminetheapplicablerangeofthemodel.ThecomparisonofthepredictedresultswithrecentMOXin-piledatashowsthatthecenterlinetemperatureandcladelongationareevaluatedwithinanacceptablerange.
