Abstract :
Anunderwaterroboticsystemforvisualinspectionofreactorvesselinternalshasbeendeveloped.TheKoreaElectricPowerRobotforVisualTest(KeproVt)consistsofanunderwaterrobot,avisionprocessorbasedmeasuringunit,amastercontrolstationandaservocontrolstation.Thevisionprocessorbasedmeasuringunitemploysafirst-of-a-kindengineeringtechnologyinnuclearrobotics.Thevisionprocessormakesuseofacameralocatedatthetopofthewaterlevelreferencedtothereactorcenterlinetogetanimageoftherobot,andcomputesthelocationandorientationoftherobot.Therobotguidedbythecontrolstationwiththemeasuringunitcanbecontrolledtohaveanymotionatanypositioninthereactorvesselwith±1cmpositioningand±2°headingaccuracieswithenoughprecisiontoinspectreactorinternals.Asimpleandfastinstallationprocessisemphasizedinthedevelopedsystem.Theinstallationprocessconsistsofhookingavisioncameraontheguiderailoftherefuelingmachineandputtingasmallrobot(14.5kginweight)inthereactorcavitypool.Theeasyinstallationandautomaticoperationmeetthedemandofshorteningthereactoroutageandreducingthenumberofinspectionpersonnel.ThedevelopedroboticsystemwassuccessfullydeployedattheYonggwangNuclearUnit1forthevisualinspectionofreactorinternals.
