Abstract :
DuringfirstrisetopowerinPowerWaterReactor,fuelpelletscrackbecauseofthermalexpansion.Thephenomenaofpelletcrackingandfragmentsrelocationhaveamajorinfluenceonrodbehaviourandespeciallyonthecladdingbehaviourinthecaseofpellet–claddinginteraction.
ThisarticlepresentsthemodelingusedtotakeintoaccountthefragmentedstateofthepelletintheEDFfuelrodthermo-mechanicalcode,CYRANO3®.Theaimistosimulatemorerealisticstressandstrainfieldsinthepellet.
Theinvestigatedmethodconsistsinaddingparametersinthe1Dfiniteelementscalculationsinordertointegratethemulti-dimensionalfragmentationeffectsintheaxisymmetrical1DcodeCYRANO3®.Theseparametersmodifythematerialbehaviourbydescribingthefuelasananisotropicdamagedmaterial.Themodelingaccountsfortheopeningandclosingofradialpelletcracks.Ithasbeenimplementedinthecodeforelasticandviscoplasticfuelbehaviours.
