Abstract :
AninvestigationofthethermalhydrauliccharacteristicsinthepassiveresidualheatremovalsystemoftheSystemintegratedModularAdvancedReacTor-P(SMART-P)hasbeencarriedoutusingtheMARScode,whichisabestestimatesystemanalysiscode.TheSMART-Pisdesignedtocoolthesystemduringaccidentalconditionsbyanaturalconvection.Thedominantheattransferinthesteamgeneratorisaboilingmodeunderaforcedconvectioncondition,anditisasingle-phaseliquidandaboilingheattransferunderanaturalconvectioncondition.Mostoftheheatisremovedintheheatexchangerofthepassiveresidualheatremovalsystembyacondensationheattransfer.Thepassiveresidualheatremovalsystemcanremovetheenergyfromtheprimarysideaslongastheheatexchangerissubmergedintherefuelingwatertank.Themassflowisstableunderanaturalcirculationconditionthoughitoscillatesperiodicallywithasmallamplitude.Theparameterstudyisperformedbyconsideringtheeffectsofaneffectiveheightbetweenthesteamgeneratorandtheheatexchanger,ahydraulicresistance,aninitialpressure,anon-condensablegasfractioninthecompensatingtank,andavalveactuationtime,whichareusefulforthedesignofthepassiveresidualheatremovalsystem.Themassflowinthepassiveresidualheatremovalsystemhasbeenaffectedbytheheightbetweenthesteamgeneratorandtheheatexchanger,andthehydraulicresistanceoftheloop.
