Abstract
Thehightemperatureengineeringtestreactor(HTTR)isagraphite-moderatedandheliumgas-cooledreactorwithathermaloutputof30MWandareactoroutletcoolanttemperatureof950°Cduringthehightemperaturetestoperation.Fuelelements,controlrodguideblocksandreplaceablereflectorblocksaremaincorecomponentsoftheHTTR.Thecorecomponentsaremainlymadeofceramics,suchasgraphite,siliconcarbide,etc.whichareexcellentthermalresistantmaterials.
DesignrequirementsforthecorecomponentswerelaiddownandextensivedesigneffortsandR&Dwereperformedinordertomaintaintheirstructuralintegrity.ThestructuralintegrityofthecorecomponentswasascertainedbyperformingevaluationsonthebasisoftheR&Dandstressanalysisresults.
Thispaperdescribesthedesignrequirementsanddesigndetailsofthecorecomponents,andthestructuralintegrityevaluationresultsforthefuelandgraphiteblocks.
