Abstract :
Safetydemonstrationtestsusingthehightemperatureengineeringtestreactor(HTTR)areconductedfordemonstratinginherentsafetyfeaturesofhightemperaturegas-cooledreactors(HTGRs)aswellasforprovidingcoreandplanttransientdataforvalidationofHTGRsafetyanalysiscodes.Thesafetydemonstrationtestsaredividedtothefirstphaseandsecondphasetests.Inthefirstphasetests,simulationtestsofanticipatedoperationaloccurrencesandanticipatedtransientswithoutscram(ATWS)areconducted.Thesecondphasetestswillsimulateaccidentssuchasadepressurizationaccident(lossofcoolantaccident).ThefirstphasetestssimulatingreactivityinsertioneventsandcoolantflowreductioneventsstartedinFY2002.ThefirstphasesafetydemonstrationtestswillcontinueuntilFY2005andthesecondphasetestswillbecarriedoutfromFY2006.
