Abstract :
Theresearchanddevelopment(R&D)ofthehightemperaturegas-cooledreactor(HTGR)hasbeencarriedoutbytheJapanAtomicEnergyResearchInstitute(JAERI)sincethe1960s.Theconstructionofthehightemperatureengineeringtestreactor(HTTR)startedinMarch1991forthepurposeoftheestablishmentandadvancementofbasicHTGRtechnology,aswellastheapplicationofadvancedresearch.MitsubishiHeavyIndustries,FujiElectric,Toshiba,Hitachi,NuclearFuelIndustriesandToyoTansohaveparticipatedinthisprojectsincetheR&DstageofHTTRintheareaofhightemperatureequipmentdesign,systemdesignandsafetydesign.TheinstallationwascompletedinNovember1996,andwasthenhandedovertoJAERIinSeptember1997.
ThispapersummarizestherolesofeachindustrialorganizationintheHTTRdesignandconstruction.
