Fromtheverybeginning,Europeaninstitutionsplaidanimportantpartinthedevelopmentofnuclearindustry.TheEURATOMTreatygaveaframeworkwhichhelpeachofthememberstatestobuildandoperatenuclearpowerplantsinasafeandcost-effectivemanner.OneoftheitemfeaturingintheTreatywastheorganisationofaEuropeanResearchAreadedicatedtoNuclearenergyand,particularly,toNuclearSafety.ItisworthtohighlighttheverypositiveimpactofthisEuropeanresearchprogramsforamajornuclearpowerplantoperatorlikeEDF.
