Abstract :
TheDEEPSSIprojectisasteaminjectorresearchprogramme.Amongthermal-hydraulicpassivesystems,thesteaminjectors(alsocalled“condensingejectors”or“steamjetpumps”)areveryinterestingapparatuswithveryspecificcharacteristics(highvelocity,verylowpressure).TheenvisagedreactorapplicationistheSteamGeneratorEmergencyFeedWaterSystem(EFWS)ofPressurisedWaterReactors(PWRs).Theheartofthisprojectisthedevelopmentandthetestingofaninnovativesteaminjectordesign.Threeexperimentalfacilitiesareinvolved:CLAUDIAinFrance,IETIinItalyandIMP-PANinPoland.Inthesefacilities,differentdesignoptionshavebeentestedandsomesignificantimprovementsoftheinitialdesignhavebeenobtained.
Inadditiontotheexperimentalstudies,thedevelopmentofasteaminjectorcomputationalmodelhasbeenundertakeninordertomodelindustrialsystemsbasedonsteaminjectors.Theone-dimensionalmoduleofthesystemcodeCATHARE2hasbeenchosentobethebasisofthismodel.ThefirstresultsobtainedhaveconfirmedthecapabilitiesofCATHARE2todescribethesteaminjectorthermal-hydraulics.
