Abstract :
Thedevelopmentofcoupledcodes,combiningthermal-hydraulicsystemcodesand3Dneutronkineticscodes,isanimportantsteptoperformbest-estimatecalculationsforplanttransientsofnuclearpowerplants.Forapplicationsinsafetyanalysis,thesecoupledcodesshouldbevalidatedbybenchmarkcalculationsand,preferably,bycomparisonwithplanttransientdatafromoperatingplants.Inaddition,theresultsshouldbesupplementedbyapplyinguncertaintyandsensitivityanalysismethods,whichallowtoidentifyrelevantparametersofmodelsandsolutionproceduresaffectingtheresultsandtoquantifytheirrelativeimportance.BothobjectiveswerepartoftheVALCOproject.Theaspectofvalidationispresentedin[S.Mittag,etal.,2004.Neutron-KineticCodeValidationagainstMeasurementsintheMoscowV-1000Zero-PowerFacility,inpress;T.Vanttolaetal.,2004.ValidationofcoupledcodesusingVVERplantmeasurements,inpress],theaspectofacomprehensiveuncertaintyandsensitivityanalysisforcoupledcodecalculationsisthetopicofthiscontribution.TheresultsandexperiencesobtainedbytheanalysisfortwoplanttransientsinaVVER-440andaVVER-1000,respectively,arepresentedanddiscussed.
