Abstract
Performancesofvariousturbulencemodelsareevaluatedforcalculationofdetailedcoolantvelocitydistributioninatightlatticefuelbundle.Theindividualmodelsarebrieflyoutlinedandcomparedwithrespecttothepredictionofwallshearstressandvelocityfield,forafullydevelopedflowinsideatriangularlatticebundle.Comparisonsclearlyshowtheimportanceofpropermodelingoftheturbulence-drivensecondaryflowsinsubchannels.Aquadratick–ɛmodel,whichshowedpromisingcapabilityinthisrespect,isadjustedinitscoefficients,andtheadjustedmodelisappliedtofullydevelopedflowinaninfinitetriangulararray,withvariousReynoldsnumbers.Theresultsshowthattheinclusionofadequateanisotropymodelingenablestoaccuratelyreproducethewallshearstressdistributionandvelocityfieldintightlatticefuelbundles.
