Abstract :
Thisstudyinvestigatesthefluidelasticinstabilitycharacteristicsofsteamgenerator(SG)U-tubeswithdefectandthesafetyassessmentofthepotentialforfretting-weardamagescausedbyforeignobjectinoperatingnuclearpowerplants.Togetthenaturalfrequency,correspondingmodeshapeandparticipationfactor,modalanalysesareperformedfortheU-tubeseitherwithaxialorcircumferentialflawwithdifferentsizes.Specialemphasesareontheeffectsofflaworientationandsizeonthemodalandinstabilitycharacteristicsoftubes,whichareexpressedintermsofthenaturalfrequency,correspondingmodeshapeandstabilityratio.Also,thewearrateofU-tubecausedbyforeignobjectiscalculatedusingtheArchardformulaandtheremaininglifeofthetubeispredicted,anddiscussedinthisstudyistheeffectoftheflowvelocityandvibrationofthetubeontheremaininglifeofthetube.Inaddition,addressedinthisstudyistheeffectoftheinternalpressureonthevibrationandfretting-wearcharacteristicsofthetube.
