Abstract :
Inordertodirectlyanalyzethestructureofoxidefilmsonmetalsandalloysinhightemperaturewaterconditions,aninsituRamanspectroscopicsystemhasbeendeveloped,utilizingAr-laserwithsapphire/diamondwindowassembliesasapartofanAlloy690autoclave.TheperformanceofthedevelopedinsituRamanspectroscopicsystemwasverifiedusinghighpurityNiO,NiFe2O4,Cr2O3,andNiCr2O4powders.ObtainedreferenceRamanspectrainroomtemperatureairenvironmentagreedwellwithpublishedresults.ThedevelopedRamansystemhasbeenappliedforthecharacterizationofthesurfaceoxidefilmsofanickel-baseAlloy600intypicalprimarywaterconditionsofpressurizedwaterreactors(PWRs);waterwith1000ppmboronand2ppmlithiumatapressureof18MPaandtemperaturesrangingupto350°C.InsituRamanspectrawerecollectedforAlloy600inPWRwaterconditionsatdifferenttemperaturesupto350°C,whilethespecimenswereheatedandthencooled.Inthisstudy,NiO,Cr2O3,andNiCr2O4phaseswereobservedforAlloy600inPWRwaterconditions,inreasonableagreementwithearlierresultsofexsitustudies.
