Abstract :
Therearenumerousinvestigationsoftwo-phaseflowstabilitywithparticularemphasistoBWRstability;thesehavebecomeincreasinglysophisticatedandcompleteovertheyears.Thebasicfeaturesofanewdevelopmentandfrequency-domaincodecapableofconsideringallthechannels(bundles)inaBWR,flashingofthecoolantatlowpressure,fullcouplingwith3D,two-groupneutronics,etc.aredescribed.Thebasicthermal-hydraulicmodelisusedtostudytheeffectsofflashingonstabilityinaBWR-likechannel.Thebehaviorofthechannelishighlydynamic.Contrarytowhatcouldhavebeenintuitivelyguessed,theeffectofflashingisstabilizing;thereasonsandmechanismsleadingtothisarediscussed.
