Abstract
Thepapersummarisestheexperimentalresultsobtainedintheframeofaresearchconcerningnaturalandgas-injectionenhancedcirculation.Thesephenomena,havinganinterestforcoolingacceleratordrivensubcriticalreactorcoresystems(ADSs),areaddressedmakinguseofadownscaledfacilitypresentlyoperatingwithwater,asacoolantfluid,andair,asgasinjectedtoobtaingas-lifting.Previouslypublisheddatafromtheresearchaddressedseparatelythephenomenaofnaturalcirculationandofgas-injectionenhancedcirculation,comparingtheexperimentaldatawithRELAP5codepredictions.
Afteradescriptionoftheexperimentalfacilityandasummaryofthepreviousexperimentalresults,thepresentworkdiscussesdataobtainedinexperimentsinwhichbuoyancyduetotemperaturedifferencesandvoidinggeneratedbyairinjectionarecombined.Differentairinjectionflowratesandheatingpowersareusedinthispurpose.Thequantitativetrendsobtainedintheexperimentsareanalysedanddiscussed.Theexpectedoverwhelmingeffectofgas-injectionenhancedcirculationwithrespecttonaturalcirculationisoneoftheoutcomesoftheexperimentaldataintheinvestigatedrangeofparameters.
