Abstract :
Thispaperpresentsamechanisticmodeltopredictthesteamcondensationoncontainmentfinnedtubeheatexchangersinthepresenceofnon-condensablegases(NC)andaerosols.Thetotalthermalresistancefromthebulkgastothecoolantisformulatedasaparallelcombinationoftheconvectiveandcondensationgasresistancescoupledinseriestothoseofcondensatelayer,theaerosolfoulinglayer,thewall,andthecoolant.ThecondensatelayerthermalresistanceiscalculatedbymeansofanAdamek-basedcondensationmodel.Theaerosolfoulinglayeriscomputedbasedondiffusiophoresis,settlingandimpactionmechanisms.Thegasmixture(steamplusNC)thermalresistanceisformulatedbasedonadiffusionlayermodeling.Finally,thispaperpresentsaMontecarlomethodimplementedintheFORTRANcodeTAEROSOLthatisabletocomputetheamountofaerosolmassthatisdepositedbyimpactiononthetopofthefinnedtubes.ThemodelresultsarecomparedwiththeavailableexperimentaldataoftheCONGAEuropeanproject.
