Abstract :
Thepaperanalyzestheseismicresistanceofaventilationstackonareactorbuilding,includingthepossiblereservesofincreasingtheresistance.Structuresofthistypearehighlysensitivetoseismicloads,asthetuningofthestack(thespectrumofitslowestnaturalfrequencies)correspondswiththefrequencyspectrumofexcitationduetoseismiceffects.Thepurposeofthepaperistopresentanexampleofanactualstructuretoshowthecharacteroftheresponseofthestructure,andtheparticipationoftheindividualfrequencycomponentsoftheresponseintheoverallstressandstrainstateofastructureofthistype.Themethodologyforanumericalanalysisofthestructureisalsogiven.Theloadofthestackproperismodifiedbythetransfercharacteristicsofthebuilding.Inengineeringpractice,thesystemisusuallydividedintotwosubsystems:thebuildingwiththesub-base,andthestackproper.Thelevelofjustificationfortheapplicationofthissimplificationdependsonthedistanceofthenaturalfrequenciesofthestackfromthenaturalfrequenciesofthebuilding.Finally,thepaperdealswithpossibleerrorsindeterminingtheactualseismicresistanceofthestackstructure.
