Abstract
Thehightemperaturegas-cooledreactor(HTGR)coupledwithturbinecycleisconsideredasoneoftheleadingcandidatesforfuturenuclearpowerplants.Inthispaper,thevarioustypesofHTGRgasturbinecyclesareconcludedasthreetypicalcyclesofdirectcycle,closedindirectcycleandopenindirectcycle.FurthermoretheyaretheoreticallyconvertedtothreeBraytoncyclesofhelium,nitrogenandair.ThosethreetypesofBraytoncyclesarethermodynamicallyanalyzedandoptimized.Theresultsshowthatthevarietyofgasaffectsthecyclepressureratiomoresignificantlythanothercycleparameters,however,theoptimizedcycleefficienciesofthethreeBraytoncyclesarealmostthesame.Inaddition,theturbomachineswhicharerequiredforthethreeoptimizedBraytoncyclesareaerodynamicallyanalyzedandcomparedandtheirfundamentalcharacteristicsareobtained.Heliumturbocompressorhaslowerstagepressureratioandmorestagenumberthanthosefornitrogenandairmachines,whileheliumandnitrogenturbocompressorshaveshorterbladelengththanthatforairmachine.
