Abstract :
Anexperimentalstudywasperformedtoinvestigatelocalcondensationheattransfercoefficientsinthepresenceofanoncondensablegasinsideaverticaltube.Thedataobtainedfrompuresteamandsteam/nitrogenmixturecondensationexperimentswerecomparedtostudytheeffectsofnoncondensablenitrogengasontheannularfilmcondensationphenomena.Thecondensertubehadarelativelysmallinnerdiameterof13mm(about1/2-in.).Theexperimentalresultsdemonstratedthatthelocalheattransfercoefficientsincreasedastheinletsteamflowrateincreasedandtheinletnitrogengasmassfractiondecreased.Theresultsobtainedusingpuresteamandasteam/nitrogenmixturewithalowinletnitrogengasmassfractionweresimilar.Therefore,theeffectsofnoncondensablegasonsteamcondensationwereweakinsmall-diametercondensertubes.
