Abstract
Forrealizationofeconomicalandreliablefastreactor(FR)plants,theJapanAtomicEnergyAgency(JAEA)andtheJapanAtomicPowerCompany(JAPC)arecooperatingonthe“FeasibilityStudyonCommercializedFRCycleSystems”.TocertifythedesignconceptsthroughevaluationofthestructuralintegrityofFRplants,theresearchanddevelopmentofthe“ElevatedTemperatureStructuralDesignGuideforCommercializedFastReactor(FDS)”isrecognizedasanessentialtheme.TheFDSfocusesonparticularfailuremodesofFRssuchasratchetdeformationandcreep-fatiguedamageduetocyclicthermalloads.Forpreciseevaluationofthesemodes,theresearchanddevelopmentforthreemainissuesisinprogress.First,the“RefinementofFailureCriteria”needstobeaddressedforparticularfailuremodesofFRs.Secondly,thedevelopmentof“GuidelinesforInelasticDesignAnalysis”isconductedtopredictelasticplasticandcreepdeformationunderelevatedtemperatureconditions.Lastly,effortsarebeingmadetowardpreparing“GuidelinesforThermalLoadModeling”forthedesignofFRcomponentswherethermalloadsaredominant.
