Abstract :
Thispaperpresentstheestablishmentoftheprovisionalspecificationsandmaterialstrengthstandardofthehighchromium(Cr)steelsforfastbreederreactor(FBR)components.Fortheimprovementoftoughnessandductilityofthesteels,aseriesofmechanicaltestsandmetallurgicalexaminationsareperformedforseveralkindsofhighCrsteelswiththecontrolledbalanceoftungsten(W)andmolybdenum(Mo).Inaddition,theeffectofheattreatmentconditiononmaterialpropertiesisalsoinvestigated.Basedontheseresults,itisrevealedthatWshouldbediminishedtoachievebetterductilityandtoughnessandthatitisdifficulttoimprovethelong-termpropertiesbychangingheattreatmentcondition.ThentheprovisionalspecificationsofthehighCrsteelforFBRcomponentsaregivenandtheprovisionalmaterialstrengthstandardisproposedforthespecificationsofthesteel.ThestandardobtainedinthisstudyisutilizedfortheFBRplantdesign.
