Abstract :
Detailedsimulationofthethermalstressesofthereactorpressurevessel(RPV)wallincaseofpressurizedthermalshock(PTS)requiresthesimulationofthethermalmixingofcoldhigh-pressuresafetyinjection(HPI)waterinjectedtothecoldlegandflowingfurthertothedowncomer.Thesimulationofthecomplexmixingphenomenaincluding,e.g.,stratificationinthecoldlegandbuoyancydrivenplumeinthedowncomerisagreatchallengeforCFDmethodsandrequirescarefulvalidationoftheusedmodellingmethods.
TheselectedexperimentofFortummixingtestfacilitymodellingtheLoviisaVVER-440NPPhasbeenusedforthevalidationofCFDmethodsforthermalmixingphenomenarelatedtoPTS.Theexperimentaldataincludeslocaltemperaturevaluesmeasuredinthecoldleganddowncomer.ConclusionshavebeenmadeontheapplicabilityofusedCFDmethodtothermalmixingsimulationsincasewithstratificationinthecoldlegandbuoyantplumeinthedowncomer.
