Abstract :
TheFrenchAtomicEnergyCommission(CEA)andtheInstituteforRadiologicalProtectionandNuclearSafety(IRSN)aredevelopingahydrogenriskanalysiscode,calledtheTONUScode,whichincorporatesbothlumped-parameter(LP)andcomputationalfluiddynamics(CFD)formulations.Inthispaperwepresentthegoverningequations,numericalstrategyandschemesusedfortheCFDapproach.
Severalbenchmarkexercisesbasedonexperimentalresultsobtainedonlarge-scalefacilities,suchasMISTRA,TOSQANandRUT,arepresented.Theyhavebeenusedasverificationandassessmentproceduresformodellingandnumericalapproachesofthecode.Specificemphasisisgiventothesensitivityanalysisofthecomputedresultswithrespecttonumericalandphysicalparameters.ThepowerfulDesign-Of-ExperimentstechniqueforsensitivityanalysisissuccessfullyappliedtotheISP47MISTRAtestcase.
TheTONUSCFDcodeispresentlyusedtosupportthehydrogenriskassessmentfortheEuropeanPressurizedReactor(EPR)plantandtoinvestigatetheimpactofthetwo-roomconceptonhydrogendistributionintheEPRcontainment.
