Abstract
Manyflowregimesinnuclearreactorsafety(NRS)researchandnuclearreactorengineeringarecharacterizedbywater–steamtwo-phaseflowsandrequirefortheiraccurateCFDsimulationthedevelopmentandvalidationofappropriatemultiphaseflowmodels.Thispaperispresentingmultiphaseflowmodelsforthedescriptionofmono-andpolydispersebubblyflowsintheEulerianframeworkofmultiphaseflowmodelinginANSYSCFX.Themodelsaretakingintoaccountinterphasemomentumtransferduetogoverningdragandnon-dragforces.Furthermoreincaseofapolydisperseair–waterorwater–steambubblyflowthebubblesizedistribution,bubblebreak-upandcoalescenceprocessesaswellasdifferentgasvelocitiesindependencyonthebubblediameteraretakenintoaccountinthenewlydevelopedinhomogeneousMUSIGmodel.Bothmultiphaseflowmodelsformono-andpolydispersebubblyflowshavethoroughlybeenvalidatedandcomparedtoexperimentsofMT-LoopandTOPFLOWtestfacilities(FZDresden-Rossendorf,Germany).Bestpracticeguidelines(Menter,2002)havebeenappliedinordertoallowforasystematicerrorquantificationandthoroughlyassessmentofmodelformulations.
