Abstract
Toallowthedetailedanalysisofthetwo-phasecoolantflowandheattransferphenomenainaboilingwaterreactorfuelbundletheCFD-BWRmodelisbeingdevelopedforusewiththecommercialcodeSTAR-CDwhichprovidesgeneraltwo-phaseflowmodelingcapabilities.Thepaperreviewsthekeyboilingphenomenologicalmodels,describestheoverallstrategyadoptedforthecombinedCFD-BWRandSTAR-CDboilingmodelsvalidationandpresentsresultsofasetofexperimentanalysesfocusedonthevalidationofspecificmodelsimplementedinthecode.Thelocationofvaporgenerationonset,axialtemperatureprofileandaxialandradialvoiddistributionswerecalculatedandcomparedwithexperimentaldata.Goodagreementbetweencomputedandmeasuredresultswasobtainedforalargenumberoftestcases.
