Abstract :
ThearticlepresentsaproceduretoqualifytheTrio_UcodeforthepredictionoftheboronconcentrationatthecoreinletofaFrench900MWepressurizedwaterreactorunderaccidentalconditions(inherentdilutionproblem).Theobjectiveofthisprocedureistoensurethatthevalidationcalculationsareperformedwiththesamemodellinghypothesesasthefullscalereactoranalysis,forwhichusuallynoexperimentaldataareavailable.AdensitydrivenROCOMexperimentaswellasanUPTFTram-C3experimenthavebeenusedforthequalificationoftheTrio_Ucode.Bothexperimentspresentsimilarthermalhydraulicconditionsasthereactorcase.ThepredictedboronconcentrationatthecoreinletofthereactorshowsthatthepotentialreturntocriticalitymightnotbeexcludedinthecaseofasmallbreakLOCA.Furtherneutroniccalculationsarenecessarytoconfirmthisresult.
