Abstract
TheRBMKcoreisconstitutedbymorethanone-thousandpressurizedchannelshousedintostackedgraphiteblocksandconnectedatthebottomandatthetopbysmalldiameter(D)andlonglength(L)pipes(lessthan0.01andmorethan10m,respectively)thatendupintoheadersanddrumseparators.Controlvalvesareinstalledinthebottomlines.DuetothelargeL/Dvalueandtothepresenceofvalvesandothergeometricdiscontinuitiesalongthelinesconnectingwiththepressurechannels,theFuelChannelBlockage(FCB)eventispossibleandalreadyoccurredintwodocumentedNPPevents.PressuretuberuptureoccurredinathirdNPPeventnotoriginatedbyFCB.Previousinvestigations,haveshowntherelevanceoftheseeventsforthesafetytechnology,andtheavailabilityofpropercomputationaltechniquefortheanalysis,seethefirstandthethirdcompanionpaperinthisjournalissue,respectively.
