Abstract :
Advancedintegral-typepressurizedwaterreactorwithamaximumthermalpowerof65MWisunderdevelopmentattheKoreaAtomicEnergyResearchInstitute(KAERI).This65MWintegralreactorincorporatesanumberofinnovativedesignfeatures.Inthecaseofatransient,thepassiveresidualheatremovalsystem(PRHRS)isdesignedtocoolthereactorcoolantsystem(RCS)fromanormaloperationconditiontoahotshutdownconditionbyanaturalcirculation,andtheshutdowncoolingsystem(SCS)isdesignedtocooltheprimarysystemfromahotshutdownconditiontoarefuelingconditionbyaforcedcirculation.ArealisticcalculationhasbeencarriedoutbyusingtheTASS/SMRcodeandasensitivityanalysishasbeenperformedtoevaluateapassivecooldowncapabilityforvarioussystemconditionssuchasnaturalandforcedcirculationconditionsforthereactorcoolantsystemorthepassiveresidualheatremovalsystem,andnumberofactivePRHRStrains.Thereactorcoolantsystemandthepassiveresidualheatremovalsystemadequatelyremovethecoredecayheatbyanaturalcirculationandthe65MWintegralreactorcancoolthecoolanttotheSCSentryconditionintheprimarysystemforallthepossibleoperationalconditions.
