Abstract :
Thenew2Dmodelfornon-equilibriumU–Zr–Omeltoxidationisdevelopedonthebaseofthepreviouslydeveloped1DmodelandextendedtoconsiderationofthegeneralcaseofsimultaneousUO2dissolutionandmeltoxidationaccompaniedwithgrowthoftheperipheralceramiclayer(crust)andbulkceramicprecipitates.ThemodelisvalidatedagainstisothermalcrucibletestswhereprecipitationofceramicphaseduringmoltenZrinteractionswithceramiccruciblewallsalongwithoxidegrowthonnon-oxidisedsurfaceofthemeltwereobserved.InordertoanalysemeltoxidationundertransienttemperatureconditionsofthePhebusFPtests,thenewphysico-chemicalmodelwastightlycoupledwiththeheatexchangemodelandappliedtointerpretationofthepost-testmicrostructureobservationsofthemoltenpoolintheFPbundles.
