Abstract :
ThemostdangerousbeyonddesignbasisaccidentsforRBMKreactors,leadingtotheworstconsequences,arerelatedtothelossoflong-termheatremovalfromthecore.DuetoaspecificdesignofRBMK,thereareafewpossibilitiesforheatremovalfromreactorcorebynon-regularmeans:removalofheatfromgraphitestackbyreactorgascircuit,removalofheatfromreactorcoreusingcontrolrodscoolingcircuit,depressurisationofreactorcoolingsystem,supplyofwaterintocoolingsystemfromlowpressurewatersources,etc.ThispaperpresentstheanalysisofsuchheatremovalbyemployingRELAP5,RELAP5-3DandRELAP/SCDAPSIMcodes.TheanalysiswasperformedforIgnalinanuclearpowerplantwithRBMK-1500reactor.Theanalysisofresultshowsthattherestorationofwatersupplyintocontrolrodchannelsenablestoremove10–30MWofthegeneratedheatfromthereactorcore.Thisamountofremovedheatiscomparablewithreactordecayheatinlong-termperiodandallowstoslowdownthecoreheat-upprocess.However,theinjectionofwatertoreactorcoolingsystemisconsideredasmainstrategy,whichshouldbeconsideredinRBMK-1500accidentmanagementprocedure.
