Abstract :
Currently,wavelettransformsarewidelyusedfortheanalysesofparticleimagevelocimetry(PIV)velocityvectorfields.Thisisbecausethewaveletprovidesnotonlyspatialinformationofthevelocityvectors,butalsoofthetimeandfrequencydomains.Inthisstudy,adiscretewavelettransformisappliedtorealPIVimagesofbubblyflows.Thevectorfieldsobtainedbyaself-madecross-correlationPIValgorithmwereusedforthediscretewavelettransform.Theperformancesofthediscretewavelettransformswereinvestigatedbychangingthelevelofpowerofdiscretization.Theimagesdecomposedbywaveletmulti-resolutionshowedconspicuouscharacteristicsofthebubblyflowsforthedifferentlevels.Ahighspatialbubbleconcentratedareacouldbeevaluatedbytheconstructeddiscretewavelettransformalgorithm,inwhichhigh-leveledwaveletsplaydominantrolesinrevealingtheflowcharacteristics.
