Abstract :
Thesupercriticalcarbondioxide(S-CO2)BraytoncycleisapromisingadvancedalternativetotheRankinesteamcycleandrecuperatedgasBraytoncyclefortheenergyconvertersofspecificreactorconceptsbelongingtotheU.S.DepartmentofEnergyGenerationIVNuclearEnergySystemsInitiative.AnewplantdynamicsanalysiscomputercodehasbeendevelopedforsimulationoftheS-CO2Braytoncyclecoupledtoanautonomous,naturalcirculationlead-cooledfastreactor(LFR).Theplantdynamicscodewasusedtosimulatethewhole-plantresponsetoaccidentconditions.Thespecificdesignfeaturesofthereactorconceptinfluencingpassivesafetyarediscussedandaccidentscenariosareidentifiedforanalysis.Resultsofcalculationsofthewhole-plantresponsetoloss-of-heatsink,loss-of-load,andpipebreakaccidentsaredemonstrated.Thepassivesafetyperformanceofthereactorconceptisconfirmedbytheresultsoftheplantdynamicscodecalculationsfortheselectedaccidentscenarios.
