Abstract :
Thenecessityofimprovementsinmonitoringanddiagnosismethodsstartedtobeofextremerelevanceinthepredictivemaintenancefield,establishingthereliabilityandreadinessofsystemcomponentsasanachievablegoal.Takingintoaccountthesereasons,thispaperpresentsanapproachforincipientfaultdetectionofmotor-operatedvalves(MOVs)usingwavelettransforms.Thetechniqueappliedinthispaperisthewavelettransformanalysisusingwavelettoolbox,wherethemaingoalistoobtainmoredetailedinformationcontainedinthemeasureddata,identifyingandcharacterizingthetransientphenomenainthetimeandfrequencydomains,correlatingthemtofailuresituationsintheincipientstage.Thewaveletanalysishasprovidedgoodresultsestablishinganewqualitativemethodologyformonitoringanddiagnosticsofmotor-operatedvalves.
