Abstract :
Aprobability-basedapproachispresentedastheintegrationofprobabilisticmethodsanddeterministicmodellingbasedonthefiniteelementmethod.Anexistingfiniteelementsoftwarepackagewaslinkedtoanexistingprobabilisticpackagetoanalysethecomplexmechanicsthatoccurduringthetransientnon-linearanalysisofimpactproblems.Thismethodologyisappliedtoapipewhipanalysisofagroup-distribution-header,whichresultsfromaguillotinebreak,andsubsequentimpactwiththeadjacentbuildingwall;thisisapostulatedaccidentfortheIgnalinaNuclearPowerPlantRBMK-1500reactors.Theuncertaintiesofmaterialproperties,componentgeometrydataandloadsweretakenintoconsideration.Theprobabilitiesoffailureoftheimpactedheaderandoftheheadersupport-wallwereestimatedgivenuncertaintiesinmaterialproperties,geometricalparametersandloading.ThesoftwareProFESwasusedfortheprobabilisticanalysisandthefiniteelementsoftwareNEPTUNEfordeterministicstructuralintegrityevaluation.TheMonteCarloSimulation,FirstOrderReliabilitymethodandResponseSurfacemethodwereusedintheprobabilisticanalysis.
