Abstract :
ThispaperpresentsanumericalsimulationwiththeEUROPLEXUSfastdynamicssoftwareofapipewhippingphenomenonoccurringinthethermalhydraulicconditionsofalossofcoolantaccidentinaPWRprimarycircuit.Differentphysicalphenomenatakeplacesimultaneouslyduringtheruptureandthewhippingofthepipesuchasplasticity,contact,largedisplacements,two-phaseflowregimeandfluidstructureinteraction.Twokindsofnumericalmodels–asimplifiedpipelinemodelandamixed1D/3Dmodel–areconsideredandcomparedthroughoutmodellingandcomputation.NumericalresultsarecomparedwithexperimentaldatabelongingtotheAquitaineIItestcampaign.
