Abstract :
Thepaperpresentsprobablevariationsofpassivesafetyboilingwaterreactor(BWR).InordertoimprovesafetyandeconomyofpassivesafetyBWR,theauthorsthoughtofuseofakindofimprovedMarkIIItypecontainment.ThepaperpresentsthebasicconfigurationofthepassivesafetyBWRthathasanimprovedMarkIIItypecontainment.WetentativelycallthispassivesafetyBWRadvancedsaferBWR+(ASBWR+)andthecontainmentMarkXcontainmentinthepaper.OneofthemeritsoftheMarkXcontainmentisdoublecontainmentfunctionagainstfissionproducts(FP)release.Anothermeritisverylowpeakpressureatsevereaccidentswithoutactivecoolingsystems.Thethirdmeritiscoolabilitybynaturalcirculationofoutsideair.Therefore,theMarkXcontainmentisverysuitableforpassivesafetyBWRs.Itdoesnotneedareactorbuilding(R/B)asthesecondarycontainment,becauseitisadoublecontainmentbyitself.TheMarkXcontainmentisageneralconceptandalsousefulforhalf-passivesafetyBWRsthathavebothactiveandpassivesafetysystems.Inthoseexamples,activesafetysystemsandpassivesafetysystemsfunctionindependentlyandconstitutein-depthhybridsafety(IDHS).TheconceptoftheIDHSisalsopresentedinthepaper.
