Abstract :
ThiscontributionpresentsastudyontheconsequencesofapplyingventilationproceduresduringafirescenarioinvolvingaTPH/TBPpoolfireinaventilatedenclosure.Thisresearchisaddressedtofiresafetyinthenuclearindustryinwhichventilatedenclosuresremainaconfigurationfrequentlyencountered.Thisworkpresentsexperimentscomprisinga300kWliquidpoolfireina400m3vesselconnectedtoanindustrialventilationsystemfeaturingoneinletandoneexhaustbranch.Theinvestigatedventilationproceduresconsistinclosingtheinletbranchonlyorclosingbothinletandexhaustbranches.Theanalysiscomparesfirebehaviourwithandwithouttheimplementationofaventilationprocedureandpointsouttheeffectsofsaidproceduresonthecombustionrate,firedurationandgastemperaturewithinthevessel.Ithighlightspressurevariationswithinthevesselwhenboththeinletandexhaustventilationbranchesareclosed.Conclusionsprovidepracticalanswersthatwouldbeusefulwhendesigningappropriateventilationstrategieslimitingfirehazards.
