Abstract
methodologyhasbeendevelopedtoevaluatethereliabilityofpassivesystemscharacterisedbyamovingfluidandwhoseoperationisbasedonthermal–hydraulic(T-H)principles.Themethodologyincludes:
•
identificationandquantificationofthesourcesofuncertaintiesanddeterminationoftheimportantvariables;
•
propagationoftheuncertaintiesthroughT-HmodelsandassessmentofT-Hpassivesystemunreliability;
•
introductionofpassivesystemunreliabilityintheaccidentsequenceanalysis.
Eachstepofthemethodologyisdescribedandcommentedandadiagramofthemethodologyispresented.Anexampleofpassivesystemispresentedwiththeaimtoillustratethepossibilitiesofthemethodology.ThisexampleistheResidualPassiveheatRemovalsystemonthePrimarycircuit(RP2),aninnovatingsystemsupposedtobeimplementedona900MWePressurizedWaterReactor.
