Abstract :
Withtherisingconcernsregardingthetimeandspacedependenthydrogenbehaviorinsevereaccidents,thecalculationforlocalhydrogencombustionincompartmenthasbeenattemptedusingCFDcodeslikeGOTHIC.Inparticular,thespaceresolvedhydrogencombustionanalysisisessentialtoaddresscertainsafetyissuessuchasthesafetycomponentssurvivability,andtodetermineproperpositionsforhydrogencontroldevicesase.q.recombinersorigniters.IntheGOTHIC6.1bcode,therearemanyadvancedfeaturesassociatedwiththehydrogenburnmodelstoenhanceitscalculationcapability.
Inthisstudy,weperformedpremixedhydrogen/aircombustionexperimentswithanupright,rectangularshaped,combustionchamberofdimensions1m×0.024m×1m.TheGOTHIC6.1bcodewasusedtosimulatethehydrogen/aircombustionexperiments,anditspredictioncapabilitywasassessedbycomparingtheexperimentalwithmultidimensionalcalculationalresults.Especially,thepredictioncapabilityoftheGOTHIC6.1bcodeforlocalhydrogenflamepropagationphenomenawasexamined.Forsomecases,comparisonsarealsopresentedforlumpedmodelingofhydrogencombustion.Byevaluatingtheeffectofparametricsimulations,wepresentsomeinstructionsforlocalhydrogencombustionanalysisusingtheGOTHIC6.1bcode.Fromtheanalysesresults,itisconcludedthatthemodelingparameterofGOTHIC6.1bcodeshouldbemodifiedwhenapplyingthemechanisticburnmodelforhydrogenpropagationanalysisinsmallgeometry.
