Abstract :
Increasingly,engineersaredesigninghybridandmixedbuildingsystemsofstructuralsteelandreinforcedconcretetoproducemoreefficientstructuresthancanberealizedusingeithermaterialalone.Inparticular,hybridcoupledshearwallofthemareknowntobeefficientlateralloadresistingsystem.However,duetolackofinformation,currentdesignequationstocomputethebearingstrengthofsteelcouplingbeam–wallconnectionsinahybridcoupledshearwallsaretacitaboutcasesinwhichthebeamshaveconnectiondetailstothewallsthatincludestudboltsandhorizontaltiesinhybridcoupledshearwalls.Therewerecarriedoutexperimentalandanalyticalstudiesonsteelcouplingbeam–wallconnectionsinahybridwallsystem.Experimentalstudywascarriedouttoverifythebearingstrengthofsteelcouplingbeam–wallconnections.Thetestvariablesincludedthereinforcementdetailsthatconferaductilebehavioronthesteelcouplingbeam–wallconnection,i.e.,thestudboltsandthehorizontaltiesinthesteelcouplingbeam–wallconnections.Theequationsproposedinthisstudytopredictstrengthforsteelcouplingbeam-reinforcedconcreteshearwallconnectionswereingoodagreementwithbothourtestresultsandothertestdatafromtheliterature.
