Abstract
ThemodelsofthemechanisticcodeMFPRdevelopedincollaborationbetweenIBRAE(Moscow,Russia)andIRSN(Cadarache,France)aredescribed.Exhaustivedescriptionoffission-gasbehaviouringrainandoutofgrainisgiveninrelationwithindividualvalidationresultsonanalyticalexperimentsundervariousconditions(steadyirradiation,transient,post-irradiationannealing).ItisshownthatmicroscopicdefectsintheUO2crystalstructurecanstronglyinfluencefission-gastransportoutofgrainsandreleasefromfuelpellets.Thesedefectsincludepointdefectssuchasvacancies,interstitialsandfissionatoms,andextendeddefectssuchasbubbles,poresanddislocations.AmodelforthedislocationgenerationandevolutioninirradiatedUO2fuelhasbeendevelopedandimplementedinthemechanisticcodeMFPRalongwithafueldensificationmodel.Beingcombinedwiththesetofequationsdescribingevolutionofpointdefects(vacanciesandinterstitials)andtheirinteractionswithfission-gasbubbles,acompletelyself-consistentconsiderationofthewholesystemofpointandextendeddefectsinirradiatedUO2fuelhasbeenobtained.
