Abstract
ForamoreaccuratesafetyanalysisfortheMcMasternuclearreactor(MNR),localvelocitymeasurementsinamock-upofthe18-platefuelassemblywereconductedinthelowReynoldsnumberregionwithemphasisonedgeeffects.Withmodificationofthecurvedplatesintheassemblytoflatones,velocityinthenarrowchannelswasmeasuredbylaserDopplervelocimetry(LDV).Thevelocityprofileinindividualchannelsandthechannel-to-channelflowdistributionwereobtained.Theeffectofthesuddentransitionfromthelargerrectangularchanneltothecircularpipeonthevelocityprofileandtheeffectofthehandlepresenceinthetopendfittingontheflowdistributionwereinvestigated.Thepressuredropalongtheassemblywasmeasuredandcomparedtoasimple1Dcorrelationprediction.
