Abstract :
ThispaperpresentsthevalidationofRELAP5/MOD3.2modeloftheVVER440forNuclearPowerPlant(NPP)intheanalysisofthefollowingtransient:“TripoffoneMCP”.
ThisvalidationisaprocessthatcomparestheanalyticalresultsobtainedbyRELAP5/MOD3.2modeloftheVVER440withmeasurementtransientdatareceivedfromKozloduyNPPUnit#4.ThebaselineinputdeckforVVER440wasdevelopedattheInstituteforNuclearResearchandNuclearEnergyforanalysesofoperationaloccurrences,abnormalevents,anddesignbasisscenarios.ItwillprovideasignificantanalyticalcapabilityfortheBulgariantechnicalspecialistslocatedattheKozloduyNPP.
Thecriteriausedinselectingtransientare:importancetosafety,availabilityandsuitabilityofdatafollowedbysuitabilityforRELAP5codevalidation.ThecomparisonbetweentheRELAP5calculationsandthetestdataindicatesagoodagreement.
ThisvalidationwaspossiblethroughtheparticipationofleadingspecialistsfromKozloduyNPPandwiththesupportoftheArgonneNationalLaboratory,undertheInternationalNuclearSafetyProgram(INSP)oftheUnitedStatesDepartmentofEnergy.
